Natural Gas Climbs as East Bears Record Cold

Plummeting temperatures in the east have aided the climb of natural gas in New York, to it’s highest point since September of 2012.

The frigid cold has hiked demand for heating fuels. Temperatures currently hover around 6 degrees Fahrenheit, 21 degrees south of the norm, according to Accuweather, and it looks to stay that way or colder through the end of the month.

The obvious necessity is apparent as cold weather affects the pipes through which oil travels. Allowing it to get too cold will ultimately result in damaged pipes and severe loss of product.
